Grupo Peñín Tasting Showcases “Best Wines” from Spain together with “New Values” in
Exclusive Seminar and Showroom

New York, NY, March 18, 2009 − Leading Spanish wine journalist José Peñín hosted a seminar and tasting showroom on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in New York City at the American Museum of Natural History on behalf of Grupo Peñín, the world authority on Spanish wines.  The event introduced the “New Values of Spanish Wine,” presented the “Best Wines” as rated by The Peñín Guide to Spanish Wine 2009.    

For the first time in the U.S. showroom, Grupo Peñín brought together the most prestigious line-up of Spanish wines in the history of the event.  The New Values of Spanish Wine and Best Wines represented sixty wineries in all; to qualify for the event they received scores of 88 to 99 points from The Peñín Guide, with the majority scoring 94 points and higher. 

Prior to the tasting, José Peñín presented a seminar on Trends in Spanish Wines, a study of the latest developments, including regional trends, varietals, and price categories, which are shaping the Spanish wine industry today.  José Peñín was joined by Alvaro Palacios, one of the most influential voices from the new generation of Spanish winemakers. The seminar also featured noted Spanish wine experts, Roger Kugler, Sommelier of Boqueria and Suba in New York, and Carlos Hubner-Arteta, National Director of Spanish Wines for Winebow, Inc., and was moderated by Javier Moreno, the General Manager of Grupo Peñín.
